Springfield, MA — Peter Pan Bus Lines, one of the largest privately owned intercity bus lines in the nation, is expecting to add as many as 780 additional motorcoaches to its regular route service during the Thanksgiving travel period in the northeast corridor.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the company anticipates carrying more than 140,000 passengers from Tuesday, November 23rd through Monday, November 29th, an increase of approximately 35,000 passengers over a normal weekend period.  In addition, similar to rail and airline transportation, Peter Pan has introduced to the traveling public the option of reserved seating on specific route schedules, guaranteeing a seat on a schedule of their choice.  Since its inception, this move has already proven to be very popular with their customers.

Travelers are now increasingly considering bus transportation as an alternative to driving due to convenience, reliability and environmentally friendly service.  Each motorcoach can remove as many as 55 passenger cars from crowded highways.  On average, the motorcoach industry provides 184.4 passenger miles per gallon of fuel, compared to the average single passenger automobile at 27.7 miles per gallon.

According to Peter A. Picknelly, President of Peter Pan, “Going Green makes bus travel even more attractive to the environmentally conscious consumer, as well as provides the most economical method of travel in the northeast corridor. Intercity buses offer the greatest fuel efficiency per person in the transportation industry.  Coupled with modern conveniences and updates like WiFi accessibility, bus travel has never been more comfortable and customer-friendly.  In addition, the flexibility of our system allows us to put additional equipment in service on our regular line run schedules at a moment’s notice.”

Peter Pan offers at least hourly service in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC.  Schedule information can be obtained by calling toll free (800) 343-9999 or logging onto the website at www.peterpanbus.com. Peter Pan serves over 100 communities throughout the northeast corridor, with daily express service including Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC.
